The Hungarian student card as an EYCA card

The Hungarian student cards with the EYCA logo function as an EYCA card as well and the discounts given by EYCA can be obtained with these cards. That is why it is unnecessary to request an EYCA card for those who have an active university/college student status or pupil status or a legal relationship in adult education at a vocational institution. The EYCA international discounts can be obtained without any age limit until the end of the entitlement of the student card.

The Hungarian student card can be requested at public, vocational and further educational institutions. The condition of the request is a valid NEK form, which can be obtained at any government office. The issuance of the card is free of charge and can be received at the educational institution.

The discounts can be obtained with a valid student card. The validation of the student card in case of over 16-year-olds is done by the administrator of the institution by sticking a validation sticker on the card. The validation sticker entitles the cardholder for discounts in public education for one year, in further education for half a year. In public education, with the validation sticker stuck at the beginning of the school year, the card is valid until the 31st of October following the end of the school year (for example, with the sticker of the school year of 2023/2024 the card is valid until the 31st of October 2024). In higher education, with the validation sticker of first semester, the discounts can be obtained until the 31st of March, with the validation sticker of the second semester, the discounts can be obtained until the 31st of October (for example, with the validation sticker of 2023/2024 school year first semester, until the 31th of March 2024, with the validation sticker of the second semester until the 31th of October 2024).

Below the age 16, there is no need to request a validation sticker until the 31st of October following the school year in which the student reaches 16 years of age (for example, if the pupil reaches 16 years of age  on the 2nd of November 2023, he will need a validation sticker first in the 2024/2025 school year).
