The EYCA (European Youth Card Association) is an association of 40 member organisations that issue the European Youth Card to more than 7 million young people in over 30 countries across Europe.
With the European Youth Card (EYC card), millions of young people below 30 may have access to trade discounts across Europe (for example museum/ theatre ticket, bicycle rental).
Two types of EYCA cards are in circulation in Hungary: one is the Hungarian student card with an EYCA logo on it, the other one is the EYCA Classic Card issued by the Hungarian Educational Authority and valid for one year.
The Hungarian student card
The Hungarian student card is an EYCA card at the same time. It is unnecessary to request an EYCA Classic Card for those who have an active university/college student status or pupil status or a legal relationship in adult education at a vocational institution since the EYCA international discounts can be obtained with the Hungarian student card with the EYCA logo on it without any age limit. The EYCA Classic Card
The Classic Card entitles the cardholder to obtain exclusively trade preferences. The international list of discounts can be viewed here. Discounts regarding public transportation in Hungary cannot be obtained.
Information on the order:
After giving your personal data, uploading a photo and having paid the necessary fee online, the Classic Card can be ordered quickly and in a safe way. Registration is needed at www.oktatas.hu webpage or you can log in with KAÜ (central identification agent).
Fee of the Classic Card: 2490 Ft.
After the successful pay and order, the customer gets an email about the order. The EYCA Classic Card is ready after 8 workdays following the electronic order. The administrator informs the customer at the contact information given in the order about posting the card or, in case of personal receipt, the administrator arranges an appointment to hand over the card.
The card can be received in person by the card claimer or an authorised representative of his, in case of minors, by the parent or an authorised person by the parent showing a form of personal identification with a photo and (in case of an authorised representative) by showing the Authorization Form.
